84% of the world’s population now has access to mobile broadband (otherwise known as 3G and 4G). That’s according to this year’s Measuring the Information Society Report by the United Nation’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Actual penetration or usage rates still hover around 47%. Factors such as quality of service and prices were the most commonly cited reasons by hold outs, but women, the elderly, and those en rural areas were more likely to not use the technology.
