5G Could Generate $45.2 Billion in 2022 by Expanding Fixed Wireless Broadband Adoption
ABI Research forecasts that 5G fixed wireless broadband access is set to launch in North America this year and will provide consumers with better quality service in the years to come. They forecast that the worldwide fixed wireless broadband market will generate $45.2 billion in 2022.
Recently, Verizon announced its plan to launch 5G fixed wireless broadband service to residential customers in the second half of 2018. Verizon plans to launch 5G in the second half of 2018 starting in California. Eventually they expect to cover around 30 million US broadband households. Other operators, like AT&T and Charter, are testing fixed wireless broadband services in the US market as well.
5G fixed broadband access will enable robust services, such as “supporting a theoretical speed up to 20 Gbps with latency 1 ms,” says Khin Sandi Lynn, Industry Analyst at ABI Research.
